Because of legislation proposed and supported by DDMO:All students in Missouri will be screened for dyslexia starting in the Fall of 2018.Teachers will be offered a minimum of two hours of training on dyslexia.Students will receive appropriate accommodations in the classroom.  The Legislative Task Force on Dyslexia was created and published their recommendations.A Dyslexia Specialist position was created in the Department of Elementary and Secondary EducationA $250,000 legislative budget item for professional development on dyslexia was granted by the MO Legislature. And NOW we are working on a bill that would create a "Reading Success Plan" for any child reading below grade level. The "Reading Success Plan" would require intensive instruction in methods approved by the National Reading Panel and the International Dyslexia Association.
